Aaron

The brother who spoke for Moses and served God as priest

Aaron was a Levite, the older brother of Moses and a brother of Miriam. When Moses asked God to send someone else, God gave him Aaron as his spokesman, and together they stood before Pharaoh to ask for Israel's freedom. Later God chose Aaron and his sons to serve him as priests in the tabernacle.

His story has light and shadow: he held up Moses' hands in battle, blessed the people and saw his rod blossom, but he also made the golden calf. He died on Mount Hor, and his name stays linked to the priesthood all the way into the New Testament.
