Era: From the exodus to the entry into Canaan, after the death of Moses (Joshua 1:1-2)
Joshua
The servant of Moses who led Israel into the promised land
Joshua, the son of Nun, started out as Moses' minister. He fought against Amalek, went up with Moses to the mount of God and was one of the twelve men sent to search out Canaan. With Caleb, he was one of the few who trusted that God would give them the land.
When Moses died, God put him at the head of Israel. Under his leadership the people crossed the Jordan, saw the walls of Jericho fall and received the land divided by tribes. At the end of his life he asked the people to choose whom they would serve, and declared that he and his house would serve the LORD.
