Era: During Israel's slavery in Egypt and the Exodus (Exodus 1:8; 2:1-10)
Moses
Drawn out of the water to lead his people out of Egypt
Moses was born in Egypt when the Hebrews were slaves and Pharaoh had ordered their baby boys to be killed. Saved from the waters of the Nile, he grew up as the son of Pharaoh's daughter, fled to the desert, and there God called him from a bush that burned without being consumed.
Through him God brought Israel out of Egypt, parted the sea and gave his law on Mount Sinai. He led the people for forty years in the wilderness and died within sight of the promised land. The Bible says no prophet like him ever arose again in Israel.
