Era: When the judges ruled (Ruth 1:1)

Ruth

The foreigner who chose to stay

Ruth was a Moabite, a foreigner in Israel. After she was widowed, she chose not to go back to her own land and went with her mother-in-law Naomi to Bethlehem. Her story, told in the book that bears her name, is about loyalty, humble work and redemption.

And it ends in a surprising way: Ruth becomes the great-grandmother of King David and appears in the genealogy of Jesus.
